Position and sentiment
Where you appear in an answer, and the tone of the sentence around you.
Position
Position is your rank among all brands an answer names, by where each first appears in the text. Being named first is position 1.
- Every recognized brand takes a place, tracked or not. If two untracked brands appear before you, you're third.
- Average position is the mean of your position over answers that name you. Answers that don't name you aren't included, so read it alongside visibility.
- First place (
top1in the API) counts answers where you were named first.
{ "avg": 2.0, "n": 167, "prev": 1.8, "cur_common": 2.0, "top1": 59 }prev is the previous period's average and cur_common is this period's average on the same prompts and surfaces, so the two compare like for like. Lower is better.
Sentiment
Sentiment is the tone of the text around your first mention in each answer: positive, neutral or negative.
It's a keyword check, not a model's opinion. Onym reads a window of text before and after your name. Words like "avoid", "deprecated", "buggy" or "expensive" make it negative; words like "recommend", "best", "reliable" or "go-to" make it positive. Negative wins when both appear. Everything else is neutral.
{ "n": 167, "positive": 93, "neutral": 74, "negative": 0 }Most mentions are neutral: AI answers list options more often than they judge them. A negative mention is still worth reading in full. Filter answers to the prompt and open it.
